3 hour custom bath mat

Standard

Yes sir, ya betcha. I know yuns can do this one! After listening to my hubby complain, about getting his socks wet every time someone else took a shower and didn’t wipe the floor, I made this to solve his “problem”. Now, I can’t take all the credit for this, I ran across it on the net, only this mat pictured is all mine.

You can find the tute here: http://www.thegirlwhoquilts.com/2011/10/quilted-bathmats.html , if ya wanna make one too.

I did layer 2 old towels rather than just the one she lists since our floor has ceramic tile and no heat in the bathroom. I also made mine smaller as my bathroom is teeny-tiny and would not accommodate one any bigger. The construction is the same, I used some 5″ squares out of a charm pack I have had for a few years. I even have enough of the charm pack to make a curtain for the window, and dress up the set of new towels my mama got us for Christmas! Simple, inexpensive, a totally custom and coordinated bathroom, you just can’t beat that now can ya?

Today, I am gonna sew together the 2 rows on the windows quilt and get the row of window “glass” pinned that will cover that seam. Maybe get some more cutting of my scraps done, although my bins and buckets are almost full already! I am cutting them into 1″, 1 1/2″, 2″, & 2 1/2″ strips to use in scrap quilts. The smaller strips are great for a flower log-cabin design and I can use the others for just about anything: rail fence, chinese coins, braids, 4-patch, 9-patch.., whatever I feel like throwing together as it suits me. What are ya’ll up to today?
